I notice less prejudiced hatred in queer circles and more lack of understanding and ignorance. I understand that non-binary identity is often confused as a ‘3rd gender’ and not a separation from colonial gender altogether, so xenopronouns have the appeal of intentional distinction from the typical grammar for non-binary english speakers. Yeah I’ve genuinely never had a problem with xenopronouns on a moral or judgmental level, I think what you said about them being unfamiliar/difficult to integrate is what most of us struggle with. I’m autistic and spoken language is already difficult for me, so adding new rules can be kind of frustrating to learn and keep track of. Obviously that’s not an excuse to disregard a person’s pronouns, just giving my perspective.
