
They don’t just “ get away with it.” You realize they have extensive investigations over things like that. Multiple people get together to talk about the incident, watch body cams, sometimes multi body cams, then they call every officer there in to hear what they say happened. If something doesn’t line up they can get suspended or moved departments.
Right, but understand that qualified immunity is there to protect cops. They will not use it all the time, but it a tool that can and is used to scapegoat law enforcement from any damages they may have caused. That is still a problem is there are measures in place to prevent accountability on behalf of the state. In simple terms: state-sanctioned violence
It’s something that needs clarification and rules. Because there are minor things that happen while on job that are not completely the officers fault and they should be sued or charged with things because of it. But major things should definitely not have this. It should have didn’t rules and regulations to it.
