As a gay man am I wrong for feeling weirded out by all the AMOUNT of women and trans men who obsess and drool over yaoi/gay male relationships and how -every- male character is being shipped with another male character? And men can’t simply be friends…

i’m a trans guy and i admittedly def was a fujoshi as a teen but i’ve only realized within the last couple years it’s cos i’m bi with a preference for men and that i want to be in a queer relationship with a man so i often view myself in those ships

i agree that the fetishization of queer men is bad, but why is the grouping "women and trans men" here?

I’m also a queer man and I feel the same way. It makes me uncomfortable how much women will romanticize and sexualize us and our relationships. It makes me feel objectified and disgusting. I feel like my identity is a toy for women to play with

Trans men are queer men they’re not in a group with women outside of men

Fully expecting to get downvoted but it just makes me feel weird and it irks me like nothing else. So many male friendships can’t simply be friendships, plus it’s effected my own life and there are some people on my campus who think it’s cute to take me and one of my friends and they look at us like we should be dating or making out any time we’re alone

Not saying it as “all of them or bad”, it just happens to always be either a woman or a trans man. I was already aware that there’s a market for women who make nothing but gay art/fan fiction which is uncomfortable enough as it is, and then theres trans men who like to think of themselves as these fictional men which sucks because there’s more to gay relationships than the over sexualization and fetishization of what theyre reading/seeing art of

I would highly recommend looking at media that doesn’t fetishize the hell out of gay men and talking to real gay men about realistic experiences and expectations, I’ve seen so many of y’all get hurt realizing that the fetishization of our relationships isn’t the reality. Much love, you got this brother 🫶

respectfully dude, i don’t need this advice and ive been in relationships with men as a man before. not all fandom spaces that ship two men together are fetishizing them and for me it was something that helped me feel seen during a time that was very confusing regarding my gender. a lot of gay trans men were in these online communities because they were also navigating their sexuality when coming out much like i did.

I’m not grouping trans men as women, I’m grouping trans men with the women who also fetishize our lives because I’ve seen and met so many trans men who disrespect and fetishize the hell out of gay male relationships. I’m not saying theyre not men but I think it’s important, it’s not healthy to switch genders and view malehood as sexual desire
