Last night I took my first dose of HRT. 100mg Spiro and 2mg of Estradiol. I guess I really shouldn’t consider myself “questioning” anymore…

congrats dude omg!!!! beware of the radical hormone shifts, (granted im an afab but tried different birth control so that’s what i’m speaking from) i was consistently nauseous for like a month when my birth control has estradiol and when i switched to no estradiol, i had really bad emotional swings but both of those symptoms tapered out within like a month as my body adjusted. again so happy for you babe, best of luck !!!💖💖💖

Congrats!!! Prepare for the clearest, softest skin of your life, having a new “allergy” to grapefruit from the spiro, and feeling like you have a UTI for the first few months from how much you have to pee 😭

first, congratulations! second, get your ass on injections IMMEDIATELY: i was on your regimen as a starter dose for a while, and it was fine, but my shit didn’t really start rolling until i started taking shots and dropped spiro because it drains your energy and makes you have to pee constantly

Don’t take biotin! I took it as a supplement to help my hair and nails and it will mess with your levels

What happens when you take grapefruit on HRT exactly? I know of the liver enzyme but doesn’t it basically make it as if you just took a big dose?

I know of its interaction from an antidepressant standpoint: it basically makes your body feel like you took a HUGE dose, and with many meds that could be seriously dangerous. Best to just avoid it.

Yeah basically it has a similar metabolic pathway to if you eat grapefruit the drug will stay in your body longer and could cause you to OD

Oh, and because no one fucking told me this and it was horrifying, you might have very yellow and oily stools from the spiro. It is NOT any cause for concern, it just happens. Also avoid having anything with potassium in it!

For me I called an informed consent clinic near me and scheduled an appointment. Making that phone call was one of the scariest things I’ve ever done but it was so worth it. Before that even I requested a letter from my therapist recommending HRT for me but I ultimately didn’t need the letter in my case. Some people do though

seconding informed consent clinic. look up your local planned parenthood, or if you’re anywhere near philadelphia, mazzoni center fucking rocks for that shit; if you’re under 24 look up their youth drop-in hours on wednesdays
