I feel like that goes for a lot of white queer people in general because they tend to live in a bubble of privilege before coming out and even after because a lot of people here only care about discrimination if it impacts them

I hope he educates himself and doesn’t become one of those toxic gays🙏

my best friend is a white gay man and he is so oblivious on a lot of queer issues like how are you not at least a little more educated on your own community especially when you're chronically online

Everyone is obsessed with white gays, as if this issue doesn’t exist in other races too. Get a grip.

I love when people talk about the difference between being gay vs queer, and this really encapsulates it. How do you not think of something like that??

Can someone explain how this is the by product of being sheltered and not by having different experiences? Cuz a lot of homophobia I’ve experienced was highly correlated with sexuality issues or religion. Not sure if white cis gay men are as much of a problem as the men perpetuating homophobia

(readding this cuz it didnt reply to yours for some reason??) *some* white cishet men. i say *some* because a lot of cishet men in general, including white men, are not directly affected by misogyny so they have a harder time understanding its effects. not all of them, i just know many.

Please explain how white gay men aren’t affected by misogyny? Misogyny literally has effects on everyone.

they are not ***directly*** affected by misogyny, the hatred of women. they are affected by it, but not directly because they are not women.

Not true. Many people, other than women, are directly affected. Almost all of LGBT community included. Even men are directly affected, as misogyny does not actually serve them. Women are OBVIOUSLY affected, but not the only ones directly affected.

i find it hilarious that you’re trying to make sure everybody gets included in being oppressed by misogyny (the hatred of women)

Misogyny isn’t hatred of women. It’s a system that puts men above women in terms of value. And I never said everyone is oppressed, I said everyone is harmed (never did I say equally either). Please learn to read and comprehend.

no, men are NOT and will NEVER be directly affected by misogyny 😭😭 because they’re MEN. misogyny affects everyone, but it can only directly affect you if you’re a woman. what a dumb ass comment 💀💀💀 imagine trying to make even the DEFINITION of the word “hatred towards women” include men 🤡

you’re mistaking the patriarchy for misogyny and it’s really messing up your argument

They’re not. There’s a reason there are separate words for these two different concepts.
