I do think our heteronormative society through centuries has discouraged people from exploring outside of heterosexuality to a degree (some times and settings were better than others ofc) but I think you should be careful saying this to other queer people that have already fought and worked through so much to be the people we are, labels have helped people convey how they see themselves and communicate that to others within the community and to build spaces for us to be safe
Just because you personally do not understand the way that certain people in the community experience their life doesn’t make it ok to theorize about their sexuality, personally ive been told the exact same rhetoric from whatever this school of thought is called and those that believe in forms of conversion therapy, the only difference being the former use it as a method of coercion to try to get me to sleep with them, just selfish vs religious motivation
You should have, i think you would’ve saved yourself a lot of criticism, and it would have changed the point you were originally making personally I still think it matters to be aware of dogwhistles that directly harm people in our community, but to each their own, I’m not gonna jump into whatever cat fight is going on in that other post though because that shit helps no one
