Well then you post about them here. No one is stopping you. Not everyone might be educated on that issue- I didn’t know about it. We can only do so much each day per person. My focus lately has been on protecting the constitution, Palestine, and civil rights in general but especially for immigrants. Perhaps you could help educate others too.
I do, I just don't think this is the space for that in my opinion. Plus police brutality victims could be a triggering topic for a lot of people in this community, so that's why I didn't choose to post it here. Also if your focus is on civil rights issues then you should've really known abt it. It shouldn't be my responsibility to post abt black issues when everyone has the ability to educate themselves.
No im not saying it’s your responsibility I’m just saying if you aren’t seeing enough people talk about it then you are free to help educate others. We all can’t know everything all the time. Also I’d argue that this place is perfect for it. There are black queers, hell the stone wall riots were led by a black trans women. Our movements just like all minority rights movements are intrinsically tied together.
this is exactly why black queer people don't feel welcomed bc then it's all of a sudden on them to speak abt black issues. i explained why i didn't post about, maybe i also didn't bc everything i do post abt black issues i get downvoted so they r clearly not as important to the community as other things.
if it was the perfect place for it then i wouldn't be downvoted or told that it was triggering or reported. i literally got banned last year because I was posting about police brutality on here. plus someone straight up told me that it wasn't an immediate issue that needed attention.
comparing atrocities doesn’t get anybody anywhere. it just causes static over the real issues at hand. if you had posted about micheal brown on here(in an actual post) im sure you would have had a swarm of support. the people here are angry at your negation/denial of the importance of what’s going on in palestine.
As a black queer person, I do think this commenter was out of line but I get where they are coming from. I see a lot of minorities supported but rarely ever African Americans or people of color in general. But again, it’s not everyone’s responsibility to post that. It’s mine or whoever else’s. And if it triggers someone, oh well, it’s social media, just scroll. Now if I post something and it gets a lot of downvotes or deleted, then I’d be upset and start calling the community racist.
But right now, the community isn’t racist. But it is heavily avoidant of poc issues. I am proud of all the other minorities this community speaks out about though. So even though I would like to see more, I’m happy with what we are getting now. Never have I ever seen so much content to support people with disabilities and it opened up a whole new world for me.
How the fuck are you “all lives matter”ing Palestine. Yes black people face serious societal issues, that has nothing to do with the literal holocaust going on and what a weird way to detract away from the conversation at hand. If you want to see more posts about black rights then make them instead of bitching under a post about genocide
