Bc they were mislead by a man in a cool robe preaching a misinterpreted bible written by a king to manipulate his people

there’s many sins in the bible that are called “abominations” but people like to pick and choose which ones they but weight on the most—obviously straight people don’t understand so they see being gay as “dirty” and a “lifestyle” since they can’t comprehend (or fathom) being with the same sex (…hence why sexuality exists but okay???)

For real they’ll forgive rapists and pedophiles but god forbid someone is gay or trans

Being a queer and Christian is so hard because I really try to prove that Christianity is not supposed to be built on judgement and exclusion and I truly believe God does not want what most Christians preach. I truly believe we spread Christianity through love and I’m not going to believe god hates me because I just love someone.

Like ik it being a sin in the first place is a mistake (religious people do their research challenge impossible apparently) but like I've always wondered why gay specifically?? Every time I've seen any church anything people say shit like "all sin is equal" so why is being gay the Big Bad Sin

I was incredibly lucky to grow up in a church (and in a family) that was incredibly accepting of queer people (shout out gay ancestors, love you guys) so I genuinely cannot answer that question beyond people fear what is foreign to them, and being gay is foreign to a lot of people. They hate what they can’t understand

I don’t want to get flamed here for my interpretations but basically there are many other aspects of the bible people choose to ignore and even omit like not eating pork so…in summary don’t let people dictate your relationship with God!

Well SOME things there’s a reason for in the Old Testament (like pork, no circumcision requirements, wear mixed fabrics, etc) because of Jesus. Old Testament covenants are replaced with the living covenant of Jesus. Jesus also declared all foods clean (so pork is good now).

There’s nothing in the bible that indicates that the New Testament overrules the Old Testament as Jesus himself abided by the Old Testament and followed the Torah by its exactitude. That’s a major debate in Christianity so I don’t inherently chase after people who believe otherwise. The point is that everyone has different interpretations of the bible and therefore you can’t hold more weight to one portion than the other.
