A not insignificant group of terfs demonize and actively hate on men specifically to recreate a gender essentialist divide where women are like, inherently pure and victims, and men are inherently aggressors and evil, and these groups cannot be crossed, which is why trans women are evil men trying to invade women's spaces, and trans men are pure misguided souls who just need to marry a man and get pregnant so they can embrace their womanhood

I also don’t know what "terf approval" means here, I’m just trying to spitball 😭 best guess is that people see hating on men as a form of the same gender essentialism as terfs, which is the backbone of terf ideology, and therefore they must also be terfs?

that’s definitely a group that exists, yes, but I think they’re questioning why terf is being used as a descriptor when other words are more applicable. The whole point of the acronym is to point out the hypocrisy in being transphobic while claiming to be feminist. I don’t think gender essentialism is considered feminist, and the misandry thing relates feminism, but not as much to transphobia. Radfem or transphobe are better terms depending on the issue.
