if i don’t fight for my rights in the south, then who will? who is going to stand with those who cannot leave?
how "progressive leftists" look at you when you tell them you're a queer person in the south

Yah that’s dumb, queer rights are just queer rights in general. So dumb to judge.

I’ve been in a bad situation with no way out, and it’s not fair to expect people to leave their homes behind (Looking at our Native American Queers, and our youth). We should be working not just to better our states, but the United States as a whole, for /everyone/. We’re only as good as our worst state. I’ll stand with those who cannot leave.

Dude ‘progressive’ elitism, especially from northerners is actually so annoying. They act like we’re trailer trash that should just ditch everything we’ve ever known, or like it’s somehow our fault for the socioeconomic state of the place we are in. Like man I don’t want to hate my home! I want it to be better!!

thank you for agreeing. it’s as if they expect everyone to evacuate the south people fight so hard to make change.

Exactly. As if folks from the south don’t have familial ties, financial circumstances, personal circumstances, etc that make leaving either hard or borderline impossible. :( I’m lucky to have been born in and live in California - but I know if things suddenly got super bad over here, I’d be unlikely to be able to leave too. 😭

“but red states—“ they’re not always red, they’re systematically undereducated and the people saying that are just classist!
