it depends, personally I’m ace and wanted sex because I thought I’d enjoy it and bc it was an act of intimacy. I’ve also had very intense fantasies but eventually realized they were for sensations that weren’t necessarily sexual, and that I felt awful after sex because I was mixing things I enjoyed with smth I deeply did not enjoy.

e.g. I’m VERY big on pressure, so all my fantasies involved some sort of pressure. it took a while to disengage that fixation with the idea that it MUST be sexual. unfortunately, a lot of intimate sensual desires are assumed (by us and others) to be sexual, and if we only engage with them in sex then it’s hard to differentiate it from sexual desires

obviously you may have a very different experience, but I def req looking into asexual/acespec people’s experiences
