HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARSHA !!! her and her peers are the reason we can even have the bs discourse that occurs on this page. endlessly grateful for our street queens who fought like hell for us to be who we are. also endlessly recommending the book “marsha: the joy and defiance of marsha p johnson” by tourmaline
let’s also not forget sylvia rivera, stormé delarverie, raymond castro. my late uncle was at stonewall and knew her. he died of aids related illness before i was old enough to realize i was queer. his husband/my other uncle wasn’t allowed to be with him in the hospital until he provided their marriage certificate. this is an old picture of one of her past birthdays. sorry to rant and rave.
