I just don't know that I'll ever be woke enough to consider it "transmisogyny" for a lesbian to say they don't like penises

correct me if i'm wrong but i don't think it's about having preferences, like it's totally up to you who you wanna date, it's more about how some people make it known, like saying they find certain body parts disgusting or smth like that...

This is exactly it. It’s not transmisogynistic to have a preference, what makes it transmisogyny is shouting it from the rooftops, bringing it up whenever someone tells you they’re trans, and/or assuming all trans women even have penises (many have bottom surgery). Chances are if OPs getting called transmisogynistic, they were doing a bit more than just having a genital preference

this whole discussion is happening bc a lesbian on a podcast said she’s repulsed by penises/hates them. So as I said, lesbians have been vocally hating dicks for years. Only recently has it become a problem.

Right so those are all things that are transphobic lol none of those things are related to a lesbian saying they don't like penises when there's not even any trans women around and the conversation is very obviously about men

You probably should have just said that instead of vague posting, then? Most people are not chronically online enough to know twitter drama. Giving zero context, putting “transmisogyny” in quotes, and the way you phrased the post all come off quite differently than it seems like you intended them to. I’ve seen posts that were almost the same, word for word, from legitimately transphobic people

Also “I’ll never be woke enough” is a classic phrase that TERFs like to use

I would argue that most people on this app are chronically online

My life is bigger than LGBTQ lol "I'll never be woke enough" is a phrase that anybody from any marginalized group uses in any context when saying something that may not be viewed as particularly progressive

I didn't say only TERFs use that phrase.. I said that it's one they like to use quite a bit. My point is that in the context of this post you made, combined with all the other issues I mentioned, it reads as a TERF post.

I was just explaining how your post came off... I already acknowledged in my first response to you (which I don't think you read past the second sentence of) that your wording and overall post "come off quite differently than it seems like you intended them to". That is why I mentioned that sharing context would really help. I don't think we're in the same conversation right now.

Short version: To anyone who doesn’t know twitter drama, your post UNINTENTIONALLY reads exactly like the super common transphobic dogwhistle posts that are everywhere. That’s why you got the response you did from everyone.

It didn't need context, my opinion is what it is whether there's context or not. I genuinely actually don't care about the response lol if I cared I wouldn't have posted it
