I want a clean poll demographic that’s inclusive on the concept of gender (mostly looking into straight psych) I am planning Male, Female, They, No as 4 options that I felt like most people could express their concept of gender. Criticism welcome.

It would probably help your research if you use only gender labels instead of biosex labels Like Man Woman Nonbinary Other: (specify if comfortable)

Does they capture nonbinary more eloquently for polling purposes? Giving someone 4 options. No one is going to create stats for every bucket of other No feels like it captures the other sentiment better not individually but collectively. I don’t see new buckets that would inspire a party with no where to go. I guess my questions is better phrased as, Would any member of this community feel truly unhomed within those demographics? Warranting an expansion or 5th category

i’m at least gonna say that “they” isn’t a gender it’s a pronoun and not all non binary or people outside of the gender binary use they/them as pronouns

well yes. i’m not male/female/“they”/“no”. i’m genderqueer and i use gendered pronouns, so i’d just roll my eyes at your dumbass poll.

I thought about this and at its very core They feels like the essence of the concept of nonbinary like it lacks binary. In language it’s a pronoun in a poll its an identity. It sounds like the people outside of the gender binary would resonate with the 4th option “No”. I may have created the ideal psych model to force selection into defined buckets that fit everyone. It’s just expanding the concept no one is special to be more inclusive.

Listen I’m a researcher. A psych researcher at that. I have not one but two degrees. So I have some authority to say this was just a word salad and ask on a clinical level what the fuck is wrong with you

If you’re talking gender you could do man woman intersex, and a second question asking if they identify as transgender. Sex you’re talking male female intersex.
