I hate hearing the f-slur even when it is said by other queer people. That will always just be the word that bigots said before they hit me. It makes me feel like I’m in danger

My psychology prof (little gay russian man) gave me my ability to hear the f-slur positively by saying it all the goddamn time in our class (class on gay ppl. He wasn't calling us that dw lmfao. He did call himself that sometimes when relevant. Always with love and pride)

Completely valid. I’m fortunate enough to not have that same association but before realizing I was queer, the f slur was always a word I saw connected to violence and hatred. My friends are a lot more comfortable with it but I don’t think I can be. Hopefully you have IRL support that understands how you feel

I do, and thankfully my friends care enough to not say it around me. I still have to hear it from my family though, which sucks
