I go to some queer youth stuff and some of the leaders say human instead of person. Like “this human was asking” vs “this person.” Or “they.” Why do they do this. Is it the same idea as folx? Like trying to be more inclusive?

I have some queer friends who do this. There’s not really anything wrong with it, it just rubs me the wrong way. Because “people” is already totally inclusive and un-gendered, using “human” instead of people seems to imply that not all people are human. “Human” gives off the vibe of “females” to me. Sorry for being pedantic, that’s just my obscure little take

To clarify, I don’t think they mean it that way at all, it just feels like they’re accidentally doing a euphemism treadmill thing for a word that doesn’t need it in the first place.
