fellow non-binary people, remember you’re naming a person!! not a pet. having a gender-neutral name is great, but getting everyone you know to call you another name is hard, and you better pick something people will take seriously with in adult life so you don’t have to change it again.

willow, rock, bones, forest, ghost, iris, fern, pepper, clay, planets/constellations (orion, cassiopeia, neptune, pluto, mars, etc)-- i tried to go with a mix of gender neutral, masc-leaning and fem-leaning

Literally like it is an easy way to get your resume immediately discounted. I’m not saying it is right but if you put a preferred name that is like Bones or something you aren’t going to be taken seriously in a professional setting. I help my boss review job applications and we have had to turn down a good candidate bc the patrons that come into my place of work and the board of directors would throw a fit if the person working the front name tag that said something like Bones
