Explain to me again the “trans men can’t be lesbians/trans men can be lesbians” thing to me. But in depth, as if I’m researching for an AP class

i really don’t understand why you feel the need to use the lesbian label. like do whatever you want ig but lesbians are non-men loving non-men. and you are a trans MAN. like it feels invalidating to your own identity and also to the lesbian community. it’s always felt to me like trans men that call themselves lesbians are just clinging to their pre-transition sexuality for a sense of comfort. it’s okay to be straight.

i really dont understand why you think its your place to tell people they are invalidating their own identity because youre bothered by not having neat boxes 🤷‍♀️

you got downvoted but this is my thoughts too lmfao (minus the last 2 sentences). if lesbian is non-men loving non-men then calling yourself a lesbian as a man doesn’t make any sense 😭

as a lesbian, it just makes me feel weird when men are trying to make lesbian spaces for them. i don’t understand why you feel the need to change the definitions of words so you can fit a label, there are other labels.

Ok see that’s not AP research level. There’s more than just cis society, so do you not care if other trans or nonbinary people recognize you as a man? Like im talking about the hard definition of trans man, not as an umbrella term.

There’s no “hard” definitions to any of these labels really

Well you didn’t clarify that. To trans people I wish to be seen as genderfluid, but to many cis people any nonbinary identity as a afab person is a woman lite and I’m not

As a lesbian you can’t control what I feel and how I live my life just because it feels “weird” to you

yeah and you can’t control that me and many others feel uncomfortable when you’re in our space. feel and do whatever you want, but morphing the historic definition of lesbianism to make yourself fit into spaces that weren’t made for you is weird

Well when I was at the LESBIAN DYKE MARCH WITH LESBIANS no one had an issue. When I go to the lesbian bar, no one has an issue.

Also your discomfort with trans people dosent mean trans people shouldn’t exist around you.

i’m not uncomfortable w trans ppl lol, trans women are welcome in my space anytime. i just don’t think trans men should be in spaces that are specifically designed for non-men. sue me !

What I mean by hard definition is transgender not being used as an umbrella term for gender identity

No. I’m nonbinary/transmasc/man genderfluid but would prefer to be seen as a man to society for both safety and comfort

Transgender IS an umbrella term for a lot of gender identities. You’re not really able to just turn that off and on

Ok maybe I’m wording it wrong, but I mean that being a trans man and being a trans man are two different things. Like there are trans men who aren’t genderfluid, or nonbinary, or bigender or agender like they are just men who were not born men and only identify as a man nothing else. Like you know there’s the word gay and that’s used to describe every sexuality in the lgbt community and then there’s gay as in like two men attracted to each other

If you think a dictionary definition is the end all be all of a QUEER identity, you have no idea what being queer is about

No a dictionary is pretty useful but turning to google’s auto generated shit that you just KNOW hasn’t been updated since Google was invented is not a power move

What makes a tumblr definition? Is it when only transphobes disagree on it?
