i thought it was common knowledge that lots of trans (even trans-feminine) people use grindr. if you aren’t attracted to someone, swipe away. it’s an inclusive space for queer people. obviously the larger part of the user base has been cis gay men for a long time (because trans people are <1% of the population), but it wasn’t made to be just that. there’s a reason there’s a gender identity filter in preferences.
so i’ll reiterate slowly this time: the mobile application, “Grindr”, was never just for the use gay men. gay men have just been the dominant user base for a long time. the population of other queer groups has been increasing, especially in newly adult (i.e. the most sexually active) populations. this is because more people are comfortable with coming out of the closet. so now, the scale is balancing out. now, you’re seeing more of other types of queer people on grindr.
