A lot of times trans ppl will use a picrew for their pfp to show their transition goal or otherwise stylized picture of themself. I’m getting the impression this is either a dig at the watered down progressivism that crops up in white communities sometimes or thinly-veiled accusation that they’re a bot and using picrew to avoid the “no pfp” problem.
i'd argue it has pretty significant medical use, it's used in anesthesia (especially for kids), severe and/or chronic pain management, and a variety of mental health diagnoses. as someone who's done more than one course of ketamine therapy i actually think it's reputation as a party drug is kind of insane because it causes significant impairment even at fairly low doses
i had to pee really bad directly after an infusion once and even on antiemetics i got motion sickness from literally standing up 😭 obviously that was a higher dose than ppl do at the clurb but like. if moving my eyes made me nauseous i cannot imagine trying to dance or socialize on K, genuinely baffling to me
anyways this post feels like a transphobic dog whistle, like a trans guy portrayed as sensitive bc he's seen as adjacent to women, who are seen as emotional, & a trans woman portrayed as adjacent to sex and drug culture, bc of homophobic stereotypes turned transphobic stereotypes
This post was made in 2022 and aged like piss. It was sexist then and just sounds worse by modern discourse standards. At the time, this was actually an argument chronically online trans ppl were making, and he/they transmascs (usually teenagers) were over-represented. It’s totally taking a potshot at trans men for a laff but there was slightly more of a basis (even if it’s a shit one) for it then than there is now
I guess I’m just kind of flabbergasted at how many upvotes this got (+ to a lesser extent, how many RTs it racked up at the time), cause I’m really struggling to wrap my head around that. like, there’s gotta be something I’m missing, right? >250 upvotes on a pair of rude stereotypes is mind-boggling
