Hot take… Straight women have ruined gay bars. Like why is the GAY bar im going to 2/3 women? Why am i getting yelled at for “cutting the line” to use the open urial? Like i love girls but i want to grind on guys, not girls

I’m a lesbian and it’s annoying for us too. Like why are you calling me gross for slightly flirting with you at the gay bar??? I have said things like omg you look beautiful and have been called a d¥ke in response. They think they own the place and it’s ridiculous

Worst thing to me is them bringing their boyfriends. Nobody in the gay bar is comfortable with a bunch of straight men there

If your city is big enough theres bars and clubs that don’t allow women and vice versa. Sounds like you’re in a gay club thats either popular w straight women or more likely, lesbians.

How do you know they’re straight?

Idk i have a pretty good gaydar and legit i was dancing on the floor with my gay friends and we were COMPLETELY surrounded by girls. Like its a GAY BAR i love girls but come one. I get that its nice to not be groped or hit on but i go to a gay bar to meet and dance with other guys. Not more girls than guys

I don’t think it being lesbians is more likely. At least where I’m from, gay bars are full of literal straight women. Some of them even with their boyfriends

And I definitely saw some of this

I’d never call someone gross but do you understand how it would be frustrating going to a club that is oriented for gay men and being legit surrounded by girls. And I feel like anyone who says anything like that to someone is an asshole, especially over a compliment.

I was using you in the general sense. There are 33 lesbian bars in the entire country, gay bars are some of the only places where lesbians can find community. I have never lived anywhere that has a lesbian bar so if I want to go out to a bar my options are a straight bar or a gay bar and straight bars aren’t safe for me to go to with my trans friends.

That makes sense, but I have a pretty good date and I am fairly certain the majority of these girls were not lesbians. They also weren’t dancing on the dance floor which just sucked. And I think they go to the gay bars for the same reason you do. They want to feel safe and they know that nobody is going to hit on them

they're talking about all the straight women at gay bars being homophobic when presented with gay women

I believe that they weren’t lesbians or even queer. I go to the gay bars to meet other women as well as be safe from straight men. When there are so many straight women it makes it harder as a lesbian to even have casual conversations with these women bc they see it as an attack and like we are ruining their safe space
