it has already been weaponized against people who are gay. the term “homosexual” was historically used as a medical term to describe being gay as a disease. i have personally only heard the term homosexual used by homophobes, queer people mocking homophobes, or in academic contexts. obviously different people can have different experiences, but it’s generally seen as a derogatory term.
