And while this is being said, if you are blessed with that straight, angel-fine hair, for the love of god do not speak on how your brethren with wavy/curly/textured hair maintain themselves 😭

Also idc who told you it’s not good to wash your hair everyday, you wash it when YOU NEED TO aka when it looks bad. No amount of “training” it will work. -from your local oily scalped friend who has to wash it daily

also conditioner does not go on your scalp, it goes on the mid lengths to ends of your hair.

I REFUSE (if I wash too often I get horrible eczema and allergic reactions for some god forsaken reason)

Once a week is good enough just put dry shampoo on early before it gets greasy and throughout the week and wear hats toward the end of the week

and try dry shampoo if your hair gets greasy easily, even if you wash it often! i made my own like 2 years ago and i’m still using the first batch i made, it was super easy and cheap!

I don’t wash my hair because it’s somehow sensory overload for me. I hate having wet hair so much

are you sure you’re not allergic to the products you’re using?

I mean allergic reactions are caused by allergies so yeah I’m allergic to it, but the thing I’m allergic to is just soap so it’s not really avoidable so I have to limit exposure. (Also I’m not the person who downvoted you)

Dry shampoo doesn’t work for me. My hair gets unbelievably itchy and then it bleeds and has scabs and it doesn’t look good just flat. I have to wash mine once a day. And why would I wear hats when I could just wash it? Maybe it works for you lol glad it does!

Fine hair is revered in some cultures whereas curly or thick is deemed primitive. Took me 18 years to embrace my natural hair after wishing I had the fine straight white girl hair my culture thinks is the peak of beauty

nobody with fine hair suffers from racist microaggressions about their hair. it’s not about tangles.. y’all can be so shallow.

It’s not. It’s a form of internal ableism based off a mindset of “if I don’t struggle with it others who do must just be lazy or not trying hard enough, like I am”

Yeah, man thank you - that’s exactly the kind of word I was looking for: internalized ableism. Even folks that are diagnosed with the same thing can vary a whole lot in which specific things affect them or are difficult for them. This almost comes across as sort of a ‘pick-me’ thing, but in the ableism sphere? I can’t STAND that whole, ‘I’m not like those OTHER disabled folks, I can ___. They’re just lazy’. It always seems to be used like a bludgeon.

Exactly. Like wow, ok, you don’t struggle with something despite it being a well documented symptom of your diagnosis. Ok? Want a sticker? Or a cookie? What benefit are you offering to those who do struggle by sharing that you dont?

It seems like you have some kind of scalp condition so this wouldn’t apply to you. But for most people it’s good to let your scalp get slightly greasy and then brush those oils throughout your ends. It’s not going to be cute which is why I recommend a hat, but will hydrate your hair so it doesn’t dry out and start breaking off. Also water itself can damage your hair so you’re better off trying to go as long as you can between washes. Not to mention saves water and $$ on hair products.

Honestly I might lol but no one has ever mentioned it when I’ve talked about it to my hair stylists. I think some people just have naturally greasy hair/oily scalps same with skin. And sadly my job doesn’t let me wear hats, best I could do is a pony tail but that’s also damaging
