No I completely get it tbh I grew up in a very conservative small town as a butch lesbian and I still get embarrassed admitting to a crush sometimes despite having known that I’m attracted to women for eight years

This makes me think of when I was talking to the guy online and he was like oh why are you still a virgin You’re 20? I was like yeah a little difficult in my area. I can’t just approach people. Don’t wanna get hate crime at the Bojangles. And they asked me what Bojangles was and I was like this explains a lot. We’re coming from two different worlds.

i didn’t understand how someone could be a lesbian when she was dating a he/him “butch” transmasc man and people were like “ur homophobic!” like i dont think you understand what real homophobia is. and maybe as a bisexual girl i should understand but i also dont understand whats so bad about admitting you like men too, it feels transphobic to me almost. like idc abt gender or labels i just date for personality

Oh you’re like that. Okay. Labels are made up. And a trans person’s relationship to gender can be complicated. And a lesbian’s relationship to her own attraction can be complicated. Additionally, how a person identifies, what labels they use, isn’t your business unless they invite you into making that your business. You should know that, being from a homophobic area. No good comes from litigating another’s identity.

hold up i just meant i didnt know what “transmasc” meant and the difference between that, being regular masc, and being a trans man until like a week ago. idgaf about my own label nonetheless how other people identify or who they date. if they’re chill with it and one partner isnt invalidating the other’s identity then im chill. this post was about how growing up in a lgbtq-accepting area allows you to better understand and be more comfortable with queerness yk?

Like no joke the amount of times I had to explain to someone how I am actually probably more uncomfortable around men then men are around me for the fear of my personal safety and wellbeing. When I was in college I had to explain that to the housing people to help place me in a single or a suite with a private room

At work I had to explain it when they offered emergency housing do to weather and they tried to make me room with a random guy (we worked at a hotel and we were almost empty so rooms were not a problem they were just being cheap)

In high school when I was actively getting hate crimed and I was talking to the guidance counselor and vice principal about how I go out of my way to make everyone else more comfortable so their aint no damn reason I should be putting up with that shit
