I think if this trans friend vibes well with the queer community (like isn't some queerphobic assimilationist or whatever), I think it should be okay lmao. Language is weird and not all slurs should work the same way. Especially for trans women, even if their straight; before they realized they were trans they may have really connected and still connect someway with gay culture and gay men.

THANK YOU! They used the excuse that they get called it because they’re trans. I don’t think other ppl calling you a slur gives you the right to use that slur…

Exactly this. I’ve been beat and harassed and constantly told to 💀 myself while out as a gay man and still as a straight woman. I took the power back from that word and I’m damn well proud of it now.
