the word valid has done more harm to the queer community than almost anything else over the last like decade or so

it’s created this environment where queer people are more concerned with fitting into other people’s ideas of sex and gender than living their lives and supporting people around them. getting rid of hegemonic views of gender and sexuality includes hegemonic views of acceptable queerness
