My family keeps using “transitioned” as a euphemism for died, and its cooking me (not in a transphobic way, just an unaware way)

Tbh we use “transitioned” in the medical field to describe someone who passed away and “transitioning” when they’re in their final moments

Some people might but we shouldn’t. It’s better to use clear language and not euphemism when you’re a medical professional

In my experience, hospice frequently uses this terminology so it’s “easier” when families hear it. I’m not necessarily saying it’s right or wrong, but this is my experience working in LTC and palliative care.

I definitely agree that it happens, but what I was taught in palliative care classes is that it’s better to use clear language
