the way cis people start whipping out those dogwhistles any time someone dares to suggest (jokingly or otherwise) that trans people may be more knowledgeable about a particular thing / proficient in a given task than their cis counterparts tend to be

I think the problem was the claim that cis people *never* question or reflect about gender (as if gender somehow doesn’t affect you when you’re cis), i don’t think people would disagree with the idea that trans people understand gender more deeply

you’re conflating “trans people generally understand gender more deeply” with “cis people don’t understand gender” which is completely missing the point 😭

that critical lens you mentioned is inherent to the trans experience, so the vast majority of trans people have that lens. there’s many other experiences of gender that garner a similar critical lens, but not every experience does. that’s not a claim of exclusivity like people keep thinking it is 💀

the people in the comments that were arguing didn’t seem to agree with the post tho 😭 some were acting like the OP is wrong by saying everyone has a critical lens of gender, and others argued with them. the idea that the vast majority of people have a deep understanding of gender is insane, but people kept making that claim
