i feel like people in the queer community get so upset at you when you have internalized homophobia and need to talk about it. it just makes me feel so alone.

internalized stuff like that is a touchy subject within pretty much any marginalized demographic I think, just because it’s incredibly difficult to describe what kinds of thoughts or feelings you’re dealing with in a way that doesn’t do splash damage to others in your community / make people feel like they have to push back on the contents of those sentiments

fwiw though, opening with the self-awareness of “I’m struggling with internalized homophobia and just need to talk about it” *is* a responsible way to approach it I’m one of the people who can sometimes get kneejerk-defensive over internalized homophobia but reading this just made me feel sympathetic, not judgmental

it’s so rough. i know it’s wrong to feel this way about myself but i’m surrounded daily with people who hate me for it. i want to unlearn it but it’s hard when it’s all consuming. i feel othered by non queers and isolating with queers. i hate it so much.
