me too :( my state is so pretty and quiet and I know I’d miss it so much if I moved somewhere else. I just wish the politics were different and that our politicians actually cared about us

i miss wv a lot but being able to access trans healthcare (esp surgeons) + queer friendly fertility medicine in the area where i live now has completely changed my life tbh

i definitely wish wv was better in that regard as well as our terrible politicians. tbh even general healthcare is hard to get here. it’s like one hospital per 50 miles and each one doesn’t offer certain services. like there’s not even a maternity ward in my whole county anymore (they got rid of the one i was born in)

yeah totally. my wife has a neurological condition and the healthcare we have received since moving has been miles better, she was on a waitlist for 18+ months to get an MRI in wv and she got one within five weeks here. the disparities are insane. especially as queer people planning to build a family, i couldn’t imagine willingly sending children to school in wv, there has been such a sharp decline even since i graduated. i really hope it gets better soon but i struggle to see that happening.

100%! my dad also had a neurological condition and we’re gonna have to start looking out of state bc even after a decade, they can’t figure out what’s causing it. thankfully i graduated in ‘23 just before things REALLY started getting bad. they’re paying families to keep their kids homeschooled or online now, whether the parents can actually teach them or not. my mom’s a teacher so i get to see it all second hand from her

oh ik. the hope scholarship is fucking crazy bc there are basically no restrictions (there are a significant # of people who use it to send their children to private schools out-of-state, wv education dollars literally leaving our economy), but unfortunately i also know that it’s the only thing letting my MIL send my brother to a local private school that’s *actually* educating students.

he’d been kicked out of a different private school and the local public 1) wouldn’t accommodate his disability and 2) completely stopped instructing science/social studies bc the math/reading scores were too low. it’s the worst catch-22. i hope ur dad is able to get the care he needs soon! whether that’s in or out of state. 🤞

yep, fully just eliminated the subjects. ADA/504/IDEA never really meant shit in wv schools but especially with recent cuts if your kid doesn’t have “severe” enough disabilities and/or easily accommodated ones then you’re pretty much shit out of luck. it sucks!

Just because the constitution says it, it much be true! Where in the constitution is access to marriage granted? Oh right, it’s not, we had to beg the courts to interpret it that way in 2015. And they’re trying to undo that! And not to mention disabled people still don’t have marriage equality but I won’t even get into that here. Oh and where in the constitution guarantees the state won’t ban homosexuality again? Oh right…it’s not…since many states are still allowed to have anti-sodomy laws

1- EO limited birthright citizenship to kids of illegal/temporary immigrants, not a general ban 2- Paused/reviewed some FEMA grants and denied certain disaster requests, not a full freeze of all funds. 3- EOs required citizenship proof on voter forms and restricted some mail ballots, courts blocked most 4- Invoked Alien Enemies Act against Tren de Aragua gang members for faster deportation 5- Federalized National Guard to protect federal sites/ICE in some cities amid protests

1- that still violates the 14th amendment. Doesn’t have to be a complete revocation to violate. Any removal is a violation 2- it still paused funds already allocated by Congress he was not allowed to pause. He couldn’t pause any of them. ANY. It doesn’t have to be all to violate. 3- courts blocked them because they were unconstitutional 4- teen de aragua gang members have a right to due process in the constitution too 5- still violates federal law. SCOTUS) rejected the broad EO as exceeding the 14th; narrower limits on birth tourism/alien enemies track historical exceptions and remain litigated. 2- Presidents routinely pause/review grants pending audits or conditions; Impoundment Control Act allows temporary holds, and many were restored or court-limited. 3- Courts blocked many provisions as ultra vires (beyond statutory power), not always pure constitutional violations; separation of powers cuts both ways.

Courts blocking an EO doesn’t mean the action was a “crime” that happened—it means the system worked and stopped it before it took effect. That’s the opposite of “he did something unconstitutional.” Every modern president tests boundaries with EOs; most get trimmed by courts. The difference is whether anything actually changed the Constitution or just got blocked.

it doesn’t matter whether the courts blocked his attempts? the fact that he tried that shit is concerning?? it also doesn’t matter whether he’s the first president or not to go against the constitution, it’s concerning no matter what. also regarding FEMA, trump has been exposed for refusing to send FEMA aide to blue states.
