My fricken hairdresser pisses me off. She keeps giving me “feminine” cuts and not adhering to the pictures I give her that are more shaggy and “androgynous”. Shes a family friend so it’s odd if I change hairdressers but I really want to

Change. She doesn’t respect you, you aren’t obligated to respect her.

She’s not fulfilling the service you want (a correct hair cut), you owe her no loyalty

No. You are the client. She could be your mom, you would still be the client. Switch. If anyone asks why, be truthful: she could never get my hair the way I wanted. That’s it.

I remember when I was in my more masc era (I’m cis but I was experimenting with gender expression) and I went in for like a 90s style middle part bad boy sort of haircut and left with a sleek french bob and I cried so hard. after that, I found a (good) barber. a woman stylist, but who specialized in mens cuts. the type of place that would let you drink bourbon while getting your hair cut LMAO and they did me soooo much better

You don’t owe anyone an explanation. You do owe yourself a good haircut the way you want it.
