i think perhaps you’ve gotten too used to the internets guise of progressiveness. i live in a ~somewhat~ liberal area(blue city in a red state) and i def hear shit like this. if you’ve forgotten up until recently “gay” was like the go to insult in middle school, i think you’re expecting too much to have changed societally in such a short span of time

I lived in commiefornia and experienced lots of casual and overt homophobia directly and indirectly 👍 and yes, everyone (who I had opportunity to ask) claimed to not be homophobic. Except my dad

like it sucks it really does i acknowledge that but i just think a lot of people get into their niches on the internet and think the real world is like that niche even though its not at all
