I just heard a different opinion about drag today. Someone said they don’t like it because it “appropriates women.” I generally disagree with this statement, but I want to hear other opinions as well. What to y’all think? Lmk and please be respectful ❤️

How does one appropriate women? Is this assuming that a gender is something that someone has ownership of? Meaning that they can modify it to fit their own identity?

I'm a cis woman and I don't feel offended by drag performance because I know it's a *performance.* It's an exaggeration of gender expression. If other women are offended, it's because they don't feel secure enough in their own gender expression and they feel the need to police other people in how they express themselves

This is exactly what I thought. As a woman I’m also NOT offended by drag queens either. In fact, I have a deep respect for their work and their craft. Drag is art!!
