jojo siwa’s rebrand to a trad wife was to give her young impressionable audience the idea that being gay is a phase and you can in fact be “fixed” by older cishet men. omg who said that??

her “gay era” was a literal caricature of how far-right republicans see queer people, but y’all ain’t ready for that conversation. all she’s “contributed” to the queer community is a new way to stereotype and stigmatize queer people, especially queer artists

She made being gay her whole personality so she could get media attention and now she got a man, she looking like a temu Sabrina Carpenter

I honestly don’t think she thinks about her actions enough for that to purposefully be the case tbh

It just is so damaging to the gay community (especially lesbians) as a whole. Gives homophobes the idea that lesbians “just haven’t met the right man yet”

That style of clothing and hair has been coming back for a while now and she decided she enjoyed it. I don’t see anything wrong with dressing in ways you think are fun. Her style has always been extreme and changes quickly. She still identifies as bisexual and her dating a man doesn’t mean she’s leaving her queerness behind.

Yeah I the amount of people that are even from the community that I’ve tried have this conversation with and say how the “F the L” comment no matter the context was offensive turn into conservatives “you guys are so sensitive this is why i hate the community” run down, acting like they don’t sound identical to the people defending mickey’s (disgusting homophobic) comments towards jojo,

that woman is 22 years of age, she is not a toddler who cannot think for herself. she’s thought about it, she knows what the implications and the damages are, but she’s doing it anyway because it makes her money and gives her attention. and now that’s she’s weaseled her way into the community, she’s backtracking HARD to show her new audience that you just need to find the right man and settle down before you age out of “reproductive age” and before you get too old and ugly for a man to like you!

Never said she was a toddler or that she couldn’t think for herself? She just has a long history of not thinking through the things she does/says and apologizing for it later. She’s also been vocal about wanting kids for years. Her wanting kids isn’t some new thing just bc of a man now being in her life. I think you have valid criticisms of her and her actions, but she isn’t some devilish mastermind- she is just a young adult (who was a child star) exploring her sexuality

I genuinely do not think she knows how to do anything in private due to her upbringing. Not trying to defend her bc I’ve never been a fan of hers, but she will pretty much always be a professional attention seeker. I just think you’re giving her too much credit

she was a child star! who also ran off of the back of creating intentional controversy and a “crazy” persona to draw attention to herself! people are allowed to explore their sexuality, but that is so obviously not what was happening during that era. she saw lesbian pop artists were trending, so she made herself a controversial figure there. she saw trad wives are trending, so she made herself a controversial figure there too. it gets to a point. again, she’s old enough to think for herself, -

I honestly pity her. She’s a child star who went through a WHOLE lot and was constantly hated on growing up and even now. Nothing she can do in the public eye will ever be good enough or please everyone except just disappear. I see it as her desperately trying to find out who she is outside of the one personality she was allowed to have and show her whole life.

The “trad wife” style has all been coming back. polkadots, long dresses and skirts, bleached voluminous hair styles with those large curls, bright red lipstick and beauty marks, hair scarves, short heals, lace, high neck dresses and long sleeves, etc. so she’s just jumping on a trend more than anything and trying to stay relevant.

I also HIGHLY doubt any homophobic people are keeping up to date with her sexuality, current partner, and she personal style. Maybe she is still very popular in some circles but the only time I hear about her it’s just mocking her.

yes! she’s jumping on trends to stay relevant! you get it. she’s not fucking doing it because she’s exploring herself, she’s doing it because it gets her into the center of controversy and gives her the attention she so desperately wants. she jumped on the trad wife trend the second people stopped paying enough attention to her for her lesbian songwriter persona. which people only did because it was controversial. but ur right, she’s got more communities to bring problems to now

This might seem like an excessive response but it’s a bit personal for me bc I’m a pansexual woman who identified as lesbian before meeting my bf and who dresses super feminine in dresses and blonde hair and heals and red lipstick etc. and my family thinks me dating him means I’m straight and it’s extremely frustrating to be viewed as being fixed or whatever just bc I’m feminine and dating a man.

like i don’t understand why we’re treating her like some 14 year old who is still exploring themselves in that way. i know she spent a lot of her actual adult life making herself seem like a child, which actually makes it that fucking weirder now! she can retire rn with more money than she’ll ever need, but she’s not going to do that because she just can’t help herself.

like i understand people can change their minds, i understand people can be bisexual while dating the opposite sex, but this all seems awfully damn convenient. if it was really that complex for her, she could remain in the spotlight while allowing that to take a break from the public eye. it is possible when you’re not actively throwing it all out there for everyone to see.

Its just upsetting because where were these people defending her when she was getting a bunch of hate when mickey was kicked off. Ppl were blaming her for being ‘too sensitive’ for not enjoying homophobic threats and that wasn’t even the reason he was kicked off the show, but sure theres no reason for us to think homophobia isn’t already taken seriously Especially now since the homophobia is more in her comment section has become more benevolent after getting with Chris, the more people seem-

-to be forgetting that these new ‘fans’ were the same ones telling her “she should take mickey up on his offer” a few weeks prior, a lot of people fail to see the issue of her choosing to discard her gf that defended her from that and saying that the LGBT community “pressured her” to identify with us plays directly into the same world views that those new “supportive” “fans” are gonna encourage, it just feels like a shady grift.

From an emotional development standpoint, she may actually still be 14 and is definitely still exploring herself in all the ways she wasn’t allowed to when she was on Dance Moms. I’m not defending her specifically, but moreso all child stars. A lot of them that have parents and coaches like she did had rough lives and didn’t actually get to be children. So she’s getting to be a child now. I’m actually just relieved she’s not an alcoholic or doing crack. In 5-10 years she’ll hopefully even out
