I’m not OP and don't know what specifically they're referencing abt the lgbtq+ community, but from the perspective of a disabled person, a lot of ableism can come from "inspiration porn" & similar ideas where disabled people are held up as "examples" of "good ones" because they have some super cool special trait or were able to "overcome" their disability in a way that’s intentionally framed as extraordinary
An example would be how autistic people in media are often portrayed as subhuman/childish EXCEPT they are a genius at math or whatever & that "redeems" them. It pushes the idea that disabled ppl shouldn't exist unless they have a basically unachievable trait that makes them useful. And no matter how you frame it, the target of that rhetoric is being treated as not-a-person
The trope is called “super crip” and as another disabled person, I hate it mostly, because the characters usually have no other personality traits except their abilities. Like in The Good Doctor (famous example) Dr Murphy’s only personality trait for the first 3 seasons or so is his ability to do medicine differently. Or in daredevil, he has such heightened senses he’s practically not even blind anymore. They’re not relatable as representation because they don’t exist
