or if we decided that labels aren’t worth the effort we put into keeping them rigidly aligned

what if we just got rid of labels and just let people live i think that’s the best alternative

I’m label-less but many people find comfort in labels since it helps them mentally anchor their identity, find community, or other reasons. there’s pros and cons to labels, and people who do/don’t use them are valid. however label discourse is fucking stupid

I am someone who has found great comfort in my label. I thought I was broken for the longest time until I found the group of people I relate the most to and without finding that community I don’t know if I would be here today

a descriptive view of labels would mean there is no absolute “right” way to describe yourself. also the only person who can label yourself is you

AnonymousOP6w
duh, but my point is that a lot of ppl nominally agree with that and use the right words but don’t change their underlying beliefs

I’m confused because it sounds like you’re saying people could just lie 😭 which means they don’t understand what I said

girl what you’re saying doesnt make sense with my hypothetical, I said “it’d be nice if they got it” and you said “but what if they didn’t and just lied” like how is that relevant 😭
