Not everyone has the privilege of coming out. And YES, it IS a privilege. My girlfriend had to flee her home country because she would have been killed for coming out. It had nothing to do with confidence. She still has problems coming out to some people because that trauma just doesn’t go away. I’m not going to hold that against her because I “had” (chose) to come out.

I don’t think anyone is in the position to judge whether or not someone “should” come out. And nobody “has” to come out because you felt pressured to. Those of us that are out should want to create a world where that doesn’t have to happen, not perpetuate it.

Thank you, she’s getting better but there are definitely bad days where we are in “best friend roommate” mode because she catches a vibe from people in public or just has a lot of anxiety and that’s ok! It’s part of loving her! She is my best friend so it’s nbd to act like it! We’re def privileged as women that close girl friendships are normalized and not scrutinized heavily. Most days tho we can hold hands and kiss and it’s nbd! Progress!
