Why do people argue with you about your own job? Like yes, I know more about X Y and Z because it’s my job to know about it.

My gf was having printer problems at her job and I offered to look at it. I worked at a print shop for four years (she has 0 experience). She wouldn't let me because apparently she knows more than me about this particular printer. (I volunteer at her workplace, it’s not a privacy/liability issue). I ended up asking her specific targeted questions that happened to help her fix the problem. She still thinks she knows more than me about it. Sometimes it’s hard to let it slide

I have a PhD in art history and work at an art museum. People love to come in and assume they know more about the art, the history of art, or the museum in general. One time the guy was pissing me off so bad, I asked him where his art degree was from. He said “I don’t have one.” I said “Well I do.”

It’s just nothing but idiots who think they know more than the person who helped build the exhibit

People love thinking they know things about art. My favourite is idiots showing something made in 2026 and saying “ugh I hate modern art” babes van gogh is modern art

My favorite is when they say “I hate modern art” but when they actually mean contemporary art but they don’t hate contemporary art, they just don’t understand it.

“It’s just blue” I hate when people don’t understand that some modern and contemporary art isn’t actually about any narrative, but is about light & line &color & brushstrokes & shape& size

Like I know Rothko was painting about emotion and things, but to me his paintings are also very much about scale and the way colors shift with eachother and layering and the way colors play off eachother, and shape, and the way shapes fill canvas
