I feel like there’s a problem, present everywhere but even worse in the LGBT+ community for whatever reason, that hookup culture and promiscuity have made finding genuine relationships difficult. It may be anecdotal, but more guys want hookups than love.

I’m a gay man, and the difficulty in finding men even remotely concerned with having a true relationship is astonishing to me. I dunno if women have this issue too, but all the stories I’ve heard seem to suggest that gay men are by and large more desiring hookups than real love. And that is a problem with the community that we NEED to addr as.

This problem also really REALLY hurts our image to the cishets. Like hookup culture is not a uniquely LGBT+ thing and we shouldn’t let them tell us it is, but it is AWFUL that it is so bad here. The studies may be biased as Hell, but they indicate “MSMs” are far more promiscuous than straight men.

yeah, I agree. I don’t think more hookup culture is objectively bad, but it’s definitely part of why people say things like “living a homosexual lifestyle”. And yeah, finding genuine long term relationships is especially difficult.

Hookup culture has turned people into basically human flesh lights and dildos. Mere objects for gratification. It is, arguably, why misogyny has basically become wanting women primarily as sex objects. Objectifying someone is not a sign of a healthy relationship with your sexuality or with your fellow human beings.
