I feel like no one talks about how asexuals can also be into kink and kink communities, it’s not inherently sexual

Don’t get me wrong you can like whatever you want and still be asexual, but I feel like kink is definitely sexual

"inherently" being the keyword. sure it's usually a sexual thing, for most people—but 1) it's very often not "sexual" in the sense of involving direct genital stimulation, and 2) more importantly, for some people, kinks can be sources of emotional security, affirmation & identity exploration rather than sexual pleasure / arousal

for context, i’ve been involved in the BDSM scene for over a decade now and have taken part in conversations about nonsexual kink pretty much the whole time. i’ve even done professional work in that realm and some of it could be classified as nonsexual

This is me exactly. The kink stuff I do does not include genitals, and I am not physically aroused. It is about security, affirmation, and identity. But what would you call being treated like a dog and praised besides kink?

I agree. I’m very kinky and hypersexual, but I lot of kink for me (as a sub) is about connection and feeling wanted/taken care of
