I’ve seen some folks call it that down in my neck of the woods (Southwestern VA) still. There’s still many who see it as a symbol of rebellion and not as a racist symbol, and it’s something that’s kinda normalized down there Prime example - My dad grew up along the VA/KY border (on the VA side) and he didn’t learn that the confederate flag was a racist symbol until he left his area (at around 20/21) to go to a college that he transferred to in another part of VA
