dude that video was absolutely insane to me, the entitlement was real. first of all, that girl is exercising, do you not want people to be doing that so that they can maybe lose the weight you’re shitting on them for? second, if she’s keeping up (even with some adjustments/accommodations, because pilates is MEANT to have those) with the workout, what is the problem? that video just stank of jealousy and insecurity
i fear that’s probably about as helpful to her as finding out the sky is blue. like, duh, but i doubt she’s actually gonna do it. she’s probably just upset she got called out and that she got to experience being shat on instead of her doing it to someone else. just WHY are you looking at someone who is also spending money to do what you enjoy doing, and only thinking, “ugh, they have a gut. they don’t deserve to be here.” like HELLO?
the most mild hot take of the century, modern day pilates influencer “instructors” are doing exercises that do not even vaguely resemble actual pilates, let alone do they work the body in a way that is safe and gentle yet effective for stability and mobility. now it’s just about strength and flexibility in a way that resembles calisthenics more than pilates
no, it was initially developed during WWI when the creator was a nurse at an internment camp. it was made for sick and injured people to be able to rehabilitate themselves physically while still being bedridden. the pilates reformer is inspired by the resistance springs that would be attached to the hospital bed for exercise. it is however a very good rehabilitation program for injured dancers, as there is a focus on control through the entire ROM without causing excessive strain or injury
