ik i will get downvoted, but i had to unlearn a lot of prejudice from my upbringing and i am still ashamed of it to this day. i am thankful for being educated and growing as a person. i wanted to say this to give others hope for their loved ones who are—

prejudice is extremely dangerous and we need to understand the weight that racism, homophobia, transphobia etc. carries.

bigoted and hateful. a lot of it comes from the insecurities within. anyways, i thought i would give it a shot and share. i had a lot of internalized racism/homophobia and other issues before i came to my senses

I was raised in a typical white conservative Christian family. I also had to educate myself & learn & grow on my own. It’s hard, espec when your family doesn’t support you, but it’s worth it to know that you’re doing the best you can to be a good person.

I think being self-aware and truthful about this kind of thing, even feeling conscious regret over past misconceptions, is totally worthwhile. I wanna stay humble enough to recognize that growth is—should be—a lifelong process, not just in others but also myself
