No i really dont because there are so many other options that dont involve giving over an hours pay in some cases every day just to transit

and some people don’t have those other options. i don’t think anyone, ir at least most people, is/are paying expensive ass uber prices if they don’t have to. like what if they don’t have public transit? what if they don’t have someone who can drop them off *and* pick them up? what if it’s too far too walk? there’s so many scenarios where it would make sense that they’d elect to just uber

Lowk i find it hard to believe that uber would frequently be the *only* option for someone. Most convenient sure but like what about carpooling, biking? And local taxis are almost always cheaper and they actually pay their employees. Personally id sooner hire a private driver than an uber cuz at least id know i was giving all that money to a person yk?

those are all things that are also frequently not an option for some people. some places don’t have bike lanesbike friendly roads or local taxis. some people don’t have people they can carpool with. i don’t think someone who has to take an uber could afford a private driver bffr like idk sometimes it just depends. my main and really only point is that it makes perfect sense why someone might rely on uber to get to and from work

The private drivers are cheaper than uber. Fb and craigslist have carpool groups. My hometown of 1000 ppl had a local taxi service. I ride my bike on some fuckass roads and sidewalks lol. It just doesnt make sense to me why someone would choose to pay that much money when they know theyre pissing away most of it to the company

Huh? How i just dont get it? Ive been studying transit accessibility for years and uber type rideshare is something that maybe im just not in the tax bracket for it to make sense but its always puzzled me bc it seems like most places and modalities that ive studied, there are more accessible options. Im not saying ppl are lazy for it or bad ppl or anything im just having a hard time understanding why ppl would need to take it, like in what cases?

Im asking about the other pov and saying i dont understand, im trying to understand. Im not villianizing or blaming or shaming anyone. I just personally dont know anyone who could regularly afford that and based on all the transportation studies i have done for cities i havent really come across it. How am i lacking empathy or coming from a privileged perspective?
