Some of y’all have never lived in high crime rate homeless area. You don’t need to fear cops or homeless people to know that the systems are fucked. But you still gotta take precautions for both and be careful on the streets regardless. -not white

Not all homeless people are dangerous ofc but if you live in a city with a high enough statistic you still gotta be vigilant and prepared. Same with cops you always gotta keep an eye out snd watch your moves. We can’t work together as a community if you keep pointing fingers at each-other lol

I feel like the original post is incredibly tone deaf because homelessness is a failure of society to care for an individual whereas being a cop is literally a choice. It just doesn’t seem like they understand what it’s like to experience homelessness and how that affects you as a person. I was homeless as a kid and saw firsthand that a lottt of the homeless population suffers from pretty severe untreated mental illness, which can them unpredictable at times, which is scary from a stranger

Like, I’d never trust a cop in the way that I’d never be friends with one or assist one in any way, and I have a panic attack whenever I’m pulled over because I’m alone. I have been and am friends with homeless people, including those with severe mental illnesses (unpredictable isn’t inherently bad, and it’s not scary when you know their heart). But from the perspective of not knowing Jack from Jill, I’m def more cautious around homeless people 🤷

N honestly I might be totally wrong on this and im very open to discussion slash being educated, but I feel like being aware of my white privilege in the way that I’m not as scared of cops isn’t necessarily a bad thing? It’s not that I think cops aren’t bad or that their racial biases aren’t horrific, just that I acknowledge that statistically I’m not their target. Cops act out of evil which is directed at specific populations that don’t include me whereas mentally ill people are more indescrimi

Being homeless is rarely someone’s fault 100% imo it’s the “all men are bad” obvi there’s good guys out there, but women gotta be caution of all just in case. I hate the system cuz it’s non sympathetic, I give food and money to those who ask, but keep my distance when I feel necessary cause that’s unfortunately the statistic

As for cops while the e system is certainly unjust I personally know people who have made the choice to become a cop because they want to become a force of good and help change the system from within, I agree with you for the most part
