Don’t get mad at me, but when people call gay men misogynistic if they insult a woman, it feels at some level homophobic

I agree with #1 and #2. Not all insults are misogynistic but it’s not homophobic to call someone out for saying something derogatory. Being gay doesn’t mean you’re immune from being misogynistic

Anyone can say something that is considered misogynistic. Even women, even gay men. It’s a byproduct of a patriarchal system created by straight, white men but anyone can be influenced by it. I’m confused as to why calling it out would be homophobic. Would it be sexist to call a woman out for saying something misogynistic?

Seconding this, some gay men have misogyny they need to unpack and should be called on it if they make comments showing it. Nobody should weaponize or hide behind their identity as an excuse to not improve/learn, that’s bad for anyone to do. As part of that people also need to stop claiming that someone is misogynistic if they’re calling a woman out on actually problematic behavior. TL;DR: hold people accountable and don’t weaponize your identity to avoid accountability
