there’s a trend currently (and has been) in the queer community where many people will respond *very* negatively to anyone who is connected or attracted to masculinity. a prime example of this is the villianization of butches in the lesbian community. you also see this in how people react to and treat butch or brick trans women (or trans women in general for terfs), trans masculine people, mspec people (especially those who are men or date men), etc.
