Slurs are slurs, but I think objectively the n word has deeper roots in hatred due to slavery and its full history. C slur is rooted in xenophobia

No one is trying to diminish Asian hate, but it's ignorant to think Black people and Asians have the same extent of experience with oppression and racism. The fact that China is a leading world power and a large part of its culture involves having black people should help you put that that into perspective

Both slurs are obviously WRONG and are rooted in hatred, but the fact of the matter is that the n word 100% holds more weight. It's obviously not a competition, but it's really off the mark to think the two are comparable

i have a genuine question do you think it would be fair to say “all racism is equally bad” and bring up concentration camps that asian americans were put in and saying well look asian americans were put in concentration camps in ww2 if you were talking about anti semitism during ww2?

Yet again, I fear that’s exactly what YOU did by making this post. The conversation was about Cierra saying the C slur, and people deciding to give her “grace.” Your response? “Well the C slur isn’t even as bad as the N word!!!”

also asian ppl being in camps while OBVIOUSLY and objectively horrific still doesn’t make slavery and a apartheid less bad somehow

that’s not true tho someone compared yulissa and cierra saying they did exactly the same things, which they didn’t regardless of the slur used, but if you want to really go into it the hard r n word is worse then the c slur yeah

Yea, I actually think Cierra’s use of the slur was far more malicious. She used it in its literal historical context to call Asian features “lesser than.”

I’m interested in what you have to say about the fact that Cierra clearly used the slur in the more malicious way

That's bc of xenophobia. In 1882, black people weren't even seen as people to be considered citizens. Nobody is denying Asian racism, but it's not rooted in the same type of dehumanization & dark history that black racism is

I literally just said nobody is denying Asian racism. But the exclusionary act is literally because of xenophobia, which is still related to racism. The only bigoted and ignorant person here is you. Asian people as a whole were never enslaved for hundreds of years around the globe based on their race, that's the point and difference

No one is saying people aren’t racist towards Asians. Asians have not been in the US as long as black people, and therefore the slur used against them doesn’t hold the same gravity as the nword does. The nword is rooted in hundreds of years of slavery, oppression, and segregation. Yes, Asian Americans were put in concentration camps. Yes, Asian hate is a problem. However, looking through a historical lense and thinking critically will show you that the nword is more severe.
