You don’t have to tip a lot, but everyone has bad days. Like I’ll usually tip around 25% if the service is really good, but if it’s not the best I’ll do 15%. You just never know what someone’s going through and how much they may appreciate you tipping

sure, but also no… as someone who works in the tipping industry, we are doing a job that requires us to be hospitable to guests. to be rude to a customer is not professional and that behavior does not need to be rewarded.

I used to work as a server in hs. I also don’t think it is okay at all to be rude to a customer, but I’m saying that I tip the person even if they aren’t super talkative or even if they aren’t checking up on my table as much bc they’re super busy. I haven’t had many experiences where a server has been straight up rude to a customer, and if that’s the case then I’d probably only tip like a dollar bc thats wrong

Servers get paid like $3 an hour with the expectation that the majority of their income comes from tips
