Arizona is also really racist. If we’re giving her the benefit of the doubt she didn’t know I really don’t think she learned it from the asian community??? if anything all the white ppl she hangs around probably normalized it?

She just had a feature about herself that she didn't like and wanted to change it. and if she associates that word with small eyes, she wasn't saying it to hurt anyone but that she just personally didn't like it on herself. doesn't make using it okay but she shouldn't get death threats for not knowing.

I completely get that, I just think in some communities that its just more popularly used, especially if that's a lot of what she was surrounded by as a kid and as another minority, I know a lot of people unfortunately that would just let her pass unfortunately. that's just how some communities are, its not right but that's my experience personally

yeah i totally get that it might be more popularly used in some communities but i’ve asked my cousin who is an arizona asian and they said it’s highly unlikely anyone in that community would let it pass

i feel like u have to be pretty dumb associating a word clearly describing asian people and their eye shape and then saying u don’t like it and want to change it… like MAYBE she didn’t have a racist intention but it’s still weird… like girl

it could be, but that is how a lot of people use that word, especially in red states like where she grew up. someone probably said it to her when she was younger and was never corrected. doesn’t make it okay but it does mean she can change
